Growing up I was constantly getting suspended and kicked out of school for acting out. I was adopted by my biological aunt from my father’s side and was in foster care from the age of 3 1/2 to 7. I began drinking and smoking weed at the age of 13 and began using harder drugs in my late teen years. I used drugs to relieve the pain in my heart and to fight off the depression. Before coming to Teen Challenge, I was hospitalized for cardiac complications as a result of my drug use. Teen Challenge is giving me a place to seek God, restore my faith, humble myself and to make my family proud while finding purpose in my life. I hope to find discipline, sobriety and a firm foundation in my faith.
