The statistics for child and adolescent mental health are startling. The 2022 National Healthcare Quality
and Disparities Report* reveals that approximately 15% of individuals between the ages of 10 and 19
have been diagnosed with a mental health disorder, and suicide is the third leading cause of death for
those between the ages of 15 and 24. Furthermore, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration’s (SAMHSA) 2020 report⁺ found that more than 8% of adolescence (age 12-17) had
consumed alcohol within the last month and more than 13% had used drugs in the last year.
So what is a concerned parent or caregiver to do? Maybe you have sought help for your daughter/loved
one in more places than you can count…or maybe Springboard Home for Girls is the first place you’ve
looked at. Springboard is part of the Teen Challenge of Arizona family. Established in 1976,
Springboard’s mission is to help young ladies between the ages of 12 and 17 become mentally stable,
emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive. Rather than focusing
merely on behavior modification, our Christ-centered approach allows young ladies to explore and find
healing for the root issues that lead to those behaviors and experience a more meaningful and lasting
change. We provide individual, group, and family counseling, Teen Challenge curriculum, parent
education, and spiritual engagement opportunities as part of a holistic effort to address multiple needs
within the family system.
We believe that each person is on a journey of transformation. Jesus promises to transform us into His
likeness as we surrender to His faithful care (2 Corinthians 3:18). We know you have a lot of choices for
your loved one, but we hope you’ll consider Springboard and allow us to walk with your family during
this time.
