I grew up in a broken home. My mom was abusive and toxic and I was beaten every day. I lived in fear of what would happen next. I felt so alone, abandoned and rejected and could never understand what was going on. My addiction began around age eighteen smoking weed and drinking alcohol. I have cerebral palsy and so it helped with the pain. It made me forget the pain of what I was going through both mentally and physically. It made me feel numb. What brought me to Teen challenge was the fact that I wanted something different than what I had been experiencing and I heard good things and knew they were centered on God and that’s what I wanted. I hope to grow to be a better and stronger person out of this with God and learn how to trust Him in the process.
