Michael B.

I was raised within the confines of an alcoholic family. My father was a functioning alcoholic and my mother struggled with an eating disorder. My addiction began around the age of 16, when I began to consume alcohol. During the summers between school years, I would drink every day. I feel that I primarily drank alcohol and used substances because it made me feel more confident. Nearing my entry into Teen Challenge, I had not had a drink in seven years. I was working all the time and began drinking to find relief. I came to a point in which I realized that I needed help and reached out. I was also feeling symptoms of depression and desired to get better. I am here at Teen Challenge of Arizona to get closer to the Lord, to get my life back, and to fellowship with others.
